Summary/Abstract: The question is whether in a world that has abolished axiological criteria, where values are self-proclaimed, a world in which subjectivity replaces truth, and technology becomes a component of the human body and interferes with its own consciousness, we still need mass media. In other words, what is the purpose of the media in a society that operates with a fluid boundary between life and non-life? The human species seems to have passed the time between the moment when the fictional narrative (story, myth) embodies, detectably, the truth and the moment (in post-truth) when the truth becomes fiction, meta-truth. I think that for now, we can only have stage answers. It is a major topic that can only be addressed by means of an interdisciplinary approach.
