Summary/Abstract: Using his publications from Romania, France, Italy, and Spain, the present study aim is to bring into attention the life and activity of the Romanian researcher and philologist Alexandru Marcu (1894–1955), who had a PhD in Florence University, studied in the Romanian School in Rome in its first promotion, was a correspondent member of the Romanian Academy, a professor in Bucharest University and also, after the installation of the Communist Regime in the Romanian lands, was imprisoned for political reasons and died in Văcăreşti prison. We will try there to emphasize the way how, thorough his works, he contributed to the development of the Romanian culture and how, by writing about the Romanian personalities in the Italian space and about the Italian ones in our space, he managed to create bridges among cultures and to promote our values in this area, being in the same time appreciated by the Italian cultural space (he also received the „San Remo” prize for his merits).
