Summary/Abstract: This paper aims to define the concept of self-fictionalization (French: l’autofiction), see how it was understood starting with Serge Doubrovsky and Vincent Colonna to Gérard Genette, Jean Delay, Dominique Fernandez or Philippe Lejeune, and explore its potential in the field of literature and literary study. A subsequent paper will take it beyond the boundaries of its domain of origin, psychoanalysis, with a view to applying it to the analysis of postmodern literature.
