Summary/Abstract: Book reviews, as well as scientific texts, are unanimously appreciated for their formative and informative value. In order to highlight specific features of both types of texts, a comparative analysis will be used, based on cognitive theory, mainly the prototype theory and the family resemblance theory, and a corpus linguistics methodology. The article pursues various aspects of communication of scientific information in these two types of texts in point of lexical units and other linguistic means.
