Summary/Abstract: The challenge of the Romanian Orthodox Church in a post-communist civil society results from the turmoil and the desire of the civil society to find answers to the problems it faces daily. Romanian modern society, still with a young democracy, is trying to find the horizon. In most situations the Romanian Orthodox Church is asked, and when the question is not asked directly, the orthodox answer (of straight edge) is expected from it. The trust of the Romanian society in the Romanian Orthodox Church is based precisely on the fact that it proved to be the unaltered guardian of the truth of faith. The responsibility of the Romanian Orthodox Church in these times is huge, because enjoying sweeping credibility, it has the task to watch over the evolution of future times, as well as the training path of future generations. The presented paper is meant to reflect the way in which Romanian civil society has evolved, and to bring to the attention of modern society (domestic and international) the tradition and Romanian Orthodox Christian point of view regarding the corruption phenomenon, involving equally the corruptor and the corrupted.
