Summary/Abstract: The author observes that there are difficulties in establishing both human origins and the justification of a solid basis for supporting human rights. The existence of a direct relationship between the two aspects is disputed. The paper presents several conceptions about the origin of man issued by researchers. It is mentioned classical evolutionism, atheism, the mixed conception: evolutionist-creationist, Intelligent Design (ID), including the theistic conception supported by the Bible, which states the existence of a creator who is also a legislator. The article tries to show that accepting or rejecting the existence of a creator and legislator has direct implications in understanding the origin and meaning of human life.
