Summary/Abstract: In her article, Emőke Pál focuses on the renowned theatre personality Jenő Janovics’ acting career, as well as his views and insights on acting, also examining a number of texts and theatre history records from the period that discuss Janovics’ acting. Jenő Janovics, as the director of the National Theatre in Cluj, strived to reform the acting style of his company, to break with the old, pompous declamatory manner of acting, and to orient himself towards the realistic naturalistic style.
