Summary/Abstract: In this paper, I investigate theatrical play-conventions present in silent-movie acting, focusing mainly on the diff erences between stage and silent movie acting determined by their unalike technical circumstances. The subjects of my analysis are two movies that survived from Jenő Janovics’s silent movie studio, The Undesirable (1914) directed by Kertész Mihály and The Last Night (1917) directed by Jenő Janovics.
