Summary/Abstract: Only several are the marginal notes from the 10th–15th centuries, in which the writers mention theirs or else’s teacher’s name. From the first period of development of the Old-Bulgarian literature are preserved a little margin texts – almost all contain the scribe’s name, but no one talks about the scribe’s teacher. Into the notes from the 14th century growing the tendency for the scribe to write his teacher’s name. It continues in the following centuries and is especially visible in the 18th century. The writing man’s view of live and his attitude to the education were changed. Behind his traditional self-humiliation steals the disposition of the cognizant and educated man. It would be to underline directly oneself, but it is admissible to underline some other educated men’s authority. Such are the teachers – schoolmasters or spiritual mentors. Unfortunately the modesty again preponderates and there are reserved just a few names of the teachers, thanks to whom the knowledge of the Middle Ages is reaching to us.
