Loneliness and need for social interaction of older people – users of home care services

Summary/Abstract: The paper presents results from an empirical research, conducted to establish the levels of loneliness and need for social interaction of older people – users of home care services. Provision of home care services for older people in Bulgaria is analyzed in regard to their potential to address the need for social interaction and prevent the feelings of loneliness of older people. In this regard and in conclusion guidelines supporting the work of social workers and careers are outlined.
