Summary/Abstract: The article focuses on functioning of proverbs in Polish and Russian Internet memes. The author analyzed selected Russian proverbs which included the component “wolf ” and their Polish equivalents. Research findings indicate that equivalent units are used to varying degrees by Polish and Russians Internet meme creators, who use the proverbs mainly in a modified form, less often in their original version. The possibility of employing a specific proverb by meme creators proves that it is still deeply rooted in linguistic knowledge of the Polish and the Russian people.
