Summary/Abstract: Leonardo Sciascia’s novel The Knight and Death has never been seen as a typical example of an anti-utopia. It could rather be read as such only today, from the distance of the decades that have passed since the novel appeared. The world of the protagonist contains many elements of harsh realism, but at the same time it denounces phenomena that are very close to the literary scenarios which anti-utopia uses. In this way, the work enters into a dialogue with other important texts of this genre, which brings it a new type of possibilities for interpretation.
