Summary/Abstract: This text is a humorous, literary-philosophical reflection on childbirth, thepostpartum period and parenthood as experiences undermining the establishedWestern ways of treating subjectivity and questioning the traditional way ofpracticing philosophy. Following Jolanta Brach-Czaina, the author looks at theliteral and metaphorical power of the lower half of the body, despised by philosophers. Attempting to answer the question about the sources of vitality and humorin Brach-Czaina’s texts, she draws an analogy between her image of the uterusand the Bakhtinian concept of the “material bodily lower stratum” in FrançoisRabelais’ novel.
