Summary/Abstract: The paper approaches a piece of a larger effort to create a model for predicting the economic crises in Romania. As method we study the premises that should be considered when such a forecasting is done. Apparently based upon GDP data endogenous recessions cannot be identified and separated from exogenous shocks.
