Summary/Abstract: Within a new paradigm of transdisciplinary art and science research, this study invites the scientific community to reconsider film language as a complementary method of exploring the human mind and feelings. The analysis of case studies highlights the potential of cinematic artistic means to be utilized as a nonverbal cognitive device in various fields of psychological research. The camera, available to everyone nowadays, can be used as a self-investigation tool. Two case studies, one artistic research and a didactic one bring to light the therapeutic role that the practice of art has, in general and of the self-reflective film, in particular. Certain existential dilemmas could be overcome by the means of a creative practice, in which the video camera becomes a mirror. This often reveals deep feelings, vulnerabilities, or injuries that require an interdisciplinary approach. In conclusion, I propose to extend this didactic research to a transdisciplinary field of film and psychology for therapeutic and research purposes.
