Moving this educational institution from Alba Iulia to Aiud also meant the beginning of a new phase of activity, phase tightly connected also to the development of the reference library. A distinct category of old books is that of Romanian book, usually printed with Cyrillic letters, but also with Latin letters or in Latin or German language. The 12 copies of old Romanian book kept in Aiud, date to XVIIIth century and beginning of the XIXth century, being the works of some personalities of Romanian culture: Dimitrie Cantemir, Samuil Micu or Ioan Molnar Piuariu.
