Summary/Abstract: The image that community members have about the public library is especially important, because according to it citizens will decide whether or not attend the library. There are at least three ways to promote a positive Library image: direct contact that an average person has with library staff and it serves information from members; community who have already used the services of the library and have been in contact with the staff here; public information forming image: publications prepared by librarians or library advertising, mass-media. Materials used in the work of promoting library: flywheel sheet, pliant, booklet, posters, bookmark, notice board, small printings, logo, slogan are combined with other methods of promoting a positive image: reception service, library guide, display panel, organized visits, exposing collections, materials developed by the libraries, cultural activities. The Internet offers new ways of promoting a positive image. It is also necessary for the Library to have a good cooperation with the local media.
