Overview of the Representation and Application of Musicals in Music Education in the Canton of Sarajevo

Summary/Abstract: The paper examines the current representation of musicals in music education in primary schools and gymnasiums in the Canton of Sarajevo, through an analysis of the current curriculum and the subject of Music Culture. The paper aims to point out the importance of musicals, which, through its interdisciplinarity, provides a wide range of opportunities for the modernization of compulsory music education for students of all leves. In addition to a creative and interactive review research approach, which will be useful to music educators, the paper provides an example of the musical Grease, which was performed in the elective course Music and Stage Projects at the Academy of Music in Sarajevo; a review of the current application of musicals at the Academy of Performing Arts in Sarajevo, and on the compulsory subject Voice.
