Summary/Abstract: Terrorism is a significant threat to security, to the values of democratic societies and to the rights and freedoms of citizens. A specific challenge in this context is when terrorist acts are committed by mentally ill offenders. Such cases raise an urgent challenge for legal research: How is mental illness relevant in the intersection between criminal insanity and terrorism as one of the most serious types of the criminality of our time?
