Summary/Abstract: The main policy of the European Union (EU) with regard to the 54 African states forms part of the Joint Africa-EU Strategy. The Joint Africa-EU Strategy was adopted by the European and African leaders at the second summit of EU and Africa, held in Lisbon in December 2007. The aim of the strategy was to take the relationship between Africa and the EU to a new, strategic level with outlined political partnership and strengthened cooperation on all levels.
