The Monograph

Summary/Abstract: In this article we aim to summarize some definitions / meanings of the term monograph and to review classifications of library history works, but also to present the various categories and subcategories found by researchers. Starting from the theoretical study of the histories of libraries in Romania, the need to systematize specialized studies and research emerged. A review of the bibliography in the field of historiography on libraries of all types leads to a better understanding of the phenomenon. After studying the analyzes made by historians members of the Library History Round Table, but also by professors concerned with the history of libraries, institutional history, social history and anthropology, we can establish several distinct categories of studies that address the history of libraries. A theoretical attempt to classify studies on library histories in Romania, starting from existing systematizations in the identified / studied bibliographies and using the literature review method, is used to clarify the terms and the types of library history works.
