Science fiction theory and Lem’s literary works: dialogue with Andrzej Stoff

Summary/Abstract: The article reveals the problem of insufficient acquaintance of Russian science fiction researchers with the works of Polish scientists written on this topic. It is noted that Polish and Russian science fiction has a lot in common, in particular, an ongoing interest in Lem’s work. The author builds a dialogue with the Polish literary critic Andrzej Stoff, based on his theoretical and literary works devoted to the theory of science fiction and the work of Stanislaw Lem. The author of the article is more interested in problems of genological nature. In the course of the dialogue, the convergence and divergence in ideas about the nature of science fiction and the genre identification of Lem’s works are clarified.
