Summary/Abstract: On the example of the residence of Philip II, Duke of Pomerania, an attempt is made at presenting a heterogenous type of the residential complex dominating in Europe until the mid-17th century. The account of Philip Hainhofer from 1617, written on the occasion of delivering a special cabinet commissioned by the Duke, provides grounds for identifying the operations of complex's respective parts and their mutual relations defined by the ceremonial and court life.
