Searching an author – Works Made for Hire

Summary/Abstract: Intellectual property is a subject of increasing economic importance and requires our attention. The paper „Searching an Author – Works Made for Hire“ surveys the worksmade- for-hire in the legal systems of the Czech Republic and the United States of America. It especially deals with works created to order and employee works. A harmony between the law of obligations and the copyright law is the basis of works-made-for-hire. However, the connectedness of these two different areas sometimes provides misunderstanding. The word “employee“, which is not sufficiently defined in both jurisdictions, is oft en at the center of controversy.
