Summary/Abstract: The purpose of this paper was to study the beginnings of Children’ s Section, reflected in local newspapers between 1953-1965. The foundation of such a section was required by two main factors: the raising number of school-age children, who needed library’ s services, and their special need of permanent education. Nowadays, Children Section represents an important compartment of county library. Its fonds are enriched all the time and totalise about 50.000 bibliographic unities. It is also the host of important cultural events, such as painting exhibitions, contests, literary meetings etc.
