Gheorghe Şincai în conştiinţa mureşenilor
Gheorghe Şincai in Mureş People Consciousness

Summary/Abstract: Şincai is undoubtelly one of the most important scholars who were ever born in Mureş County. And he always remained close connected to his native places and people. I consider that there are three stages in Şincai’s life in which his connections with Mureş County were stronger. The first stage refers to the years of childhood, spent at Râciu de Câmpie and then at Şamşud / Şinca Veche. He began his education at Săbed, and then he will continue his studies at TârguMureş. He will gain one of his teachers affection – Kovásnai Sándor – and, many years later, he will come back in town to meet him. The second stage refers to the years he worked as a general manager of Romanian schools from Transylvania. He laid the foundations of 27 schools in Mureş County area in only two years. The third stage refers to the processes Şincai was involved in, and they let him without any material goods. A lot of cultural manifestations took place in the second half of the 20th century in Şincai’ s memory. A lot of bronze statues and memorial plaques were placed all over the county: Săbed, Râciu, Şincai, Târgu-Mureş. More than that, his name is given to a local highschool and to the prestigious Research Institute from our town.
