The Attempts of Publishing Gheorghe Şincai’ s Work

Summary/Abstract: Born in Mureş county, at Şamşud - today called after his name - Gheorghe Şincai is considered to be one of the greatest exponents of Şcoala Ardeleană; he was some kind of a martyr of Romanian people and he put all his life in the service of an ideea, materialized in a masterpiece: it is the book of Romanian history, because Şincai considered that a book like that - as rigorously as possible realized and based only on truth - may be an important weapon in the fight for rights and human dignity. The difficulties he had in publishing Hronica românilor… confirm the fact that the authorities were scared by the historical truth the book presented, as a result af many years of studies in different famous librairies and archives. Şincai tried to contribute to his people rising among the European nations. That is why his work was considered to be quite „dangerous” and its publication was prohibited.
