Summary/Abstract: This article follows mainly the ideological evolution of the National Peasants Party in the postwar period, in the context of Romania’s sovietization process. The main argument that it brings forward consists in the fact that the role of the party after 1945 is not so democratic as it is usually presumed, PNȚ contributing to a great extent to the political, economic and social instability that characterized the 1944-1947 period.
