The Effectiveness of Virtual Teams

Summary/Abstract: The study defines virtual teams, presents their characteristics and types and lists advantages and disadvantages, which may be associated with this way of work organising, basing on the literature. There are also areas related to the various aspects of virtual team effectiveness presented that are collected from the analysis of the items included in the bibliography and the results of secondary researches. The problem of the present study is to determine the activities which contribute to the effectiveness of the virtual team and to justify the creation of such a team as an effective form of organising of the group both for the organisation and co-workers themselves. The aims are to formulate the idea of a distributed team and its characteristics, to determine its advantages and disadvantages, and to identify the areas which directly affect the effectiveness of the virtual team.
