Summary/Abstract: The article undertakes an effort to differentiate specific periods in the development of management and organizational sciences which could be called ages in their evolution. Calling upon certain similarities with other sciences and periods in art and culture, the article shows that specific periods do not appear consequently one after another. Each can be placed on a time scale accordingly to the moment it was born, but none of them has definitely ended. It results in the fact, that nowadays there are companies governed by many different rules and concepts (ages in the development) of management and organizational sciences. Only a few ”elite” companies actually develop concepts of knowledge management that are the most popular now. It does not mean, however, that the rest of the companies are doomed to failure.
