Summary/Abstract: This paper aims to highlight two original documents of the urban magistrate of Alba Iulia, the see of the Catholic bishopric of Transylvania, both written towards the end of the 15th century and the only medieval diplomatic sources issued by this office that have been discovered so far. Although partially known to previous historiographical debates, the two documents, currently preserved in the National Archives of Hungary in Budapest, were not given sufficient attention by historians, especially in terms of information they comprise regarding to the medieval specifics of the city of Alba Iulia. There fore, in addition to some aspects concerning the diplomatic practices of the urban chancery, the two investigated sources manage to register a series of characteristics of the administration and governance of the city, several snapshots of local daily life, determined by the existing conflicts between some citizens, as well as several insights in the structuring of its urban society, especially regarding the origins of some inhabitants and their social and professional profiles. The study ends with an addendum in which the Latin texts of the two diplomatic sources are for the first time edited, being accompanied by their translation into Romanian and by the representation of the medieval seal of Alba Iulia, also described and analysed in this paper.
