Summary/Abstract: István Kultsár had been a fervent organizer of the Hungarian literary and theatrical life at the turn of the XVIIIth and XIXth century. As a teacher at the Szombathely Liceum, in 1794 he had published Kelemen Mikes's so far unknown Törökországi levelek [Letters from Turkey] at Szombathely, giving great boost to literary life in Hungary and making possible the dissemination of Hungarian prose in the XVIIIth century. This study examines the circumstances of the first edition of Kelemen Mikes's work.
