Summary/Abstract: The aim of this study is to examine the effects of state and trait anxiety states of conservatory students on musical perception-memory. A total of 146 students from Gaziantep University Turkish Music State Conservatory participated in the research. Data collection tools in the research consist of three parts. In the first part, the Personal Information Form was used to determine the characteristics of the participants, in the second part, the Musical Hearing Test, which was developed to measure their musical perception-memory, and in the third part, the State and Trait Anxiety Inventory was used to determine their state and trait anxiety. After the necessary pre-processing of the obtained data, multiple linear regression analysis was applied to determine the predictive level of state and trait anxiety states of the participants' musical perception-memory. According to the findings, it was observed that there was a significant negative correlation between the participants' melody and rhythm perception-memory scores and their state and trait anxiety levels. In addition, it was seen that state and trait anxiety predicted 10.4% of the participants' melody perception-memory scores and 25.7% of their rhythm perception-memory scores. The most important result obtained in the study is that the increase in age and the duration of being interested in music causes a decrease in the level of state anxiety. In addition, the high rate of predictive power of anxiety about the melody and rhythm perceptions of the participants is an obvious indicator of its effect on musical success. The level of performance anxiety, which is the determinant of success, is more important than its presence. This is an important problem affecting success in music education and even ending a career.
