Summary/Abstract: Beekeeping has a long history in the world. Honey collection depicts cave paintings in Spain from the late Stone Age. The most famous is the 12,000-year-old rock drawing in the Spider Cave near Valencia. In the Middle East, there is evidence of beekeeping in clay jugs as early as 5000 years BC. This is how bees behave to this day. Slovak beekeeping has a rich tradition and its level is one of the leading in the world. Sources of bee grazing in orchards, fields, meadows and forests enable successful beekeeping in most of Slovakia. Zdroje včelej paše v ovocných sadoch, na poliach, lúkach a v lesoch umožňujú úspešné včelárenie na väčšine územia Slovenska.
