Summary/Abstract: „Topo” is the objective map of climbing routes, providing the initial knowledge of the given route. However, maps are far from being merely objective representations of natural objects; in fact, they represent complex and embodied social practices. Climbing, then, is a certain bodily state, an epistemological disposition, and the knowledge of the right moves. Thus, the question posed in the article is how precisely this knowledge and experience emerge; how the first knowledge of the route is transformed into subjective experiences and embodied knowledge.
