Summary/Abstract: The article presents a deepened analysis of the picture of the Holocaust created by Sholem Asch in his short stories from the collection entitled Der brenendiker dorn, published in 1946. The author defends a research hypothesis according to which the writer’s aim was to create his own literary representation of the Holocaust experience, containing its heroic and metaphysical reinterpretation. She also reviews the measures used to attain that goal, mentioning numerous references to threads and literary ideas from an earlier period of Asch’s creativity.
