Summary/Abstract: Emanuel Ringelblum not only studied the past but also sought to spread the knowledge of it. He wanted the Poles to get to know the history of the Jewish community, while also making the Jews aware that they should know the legacy of the country in which they live. This must have been the reason for writing an essay about “The Names of Warsaw’s streets”, through which he wanted to tell the Jewish inhabitants of the city about the history of the capital city’s streets and the origins of their names. As he was writing it, he used information taken from works by other authors as well as the findings of his own studies.
