Summary/Abstract: The subject of this study is the document by the Venetian diplomat Marino Cavalli, printed under the title “Informatione dell’Offitio dell’Ambasciatore di Marino de ’Cavalli il Vecchio MDL” (Information on the Service of the Ambassador by Marino Cavalli the Elder, 1550). According to Danova, this is a treatise dedicated to the ambassador's household. In the text, which was most likely being prepared for publication, through advices to his son, Marino Cavalli dwells on topics related to the ambassador's daily life. The analysis addresses some controversial or unresolved issues, such as the time of the text’s compilation, the authorship of individual elements of the text, the interpolation about coats of arms and mottos. The latter is an original short treatise on heraldry, in harmony with the works of Paolo Giovio, Lodovico Domenichi, Girolamo Ruscelli and others. The complete translation into Bulgarian of the treatise is presented in the appendix.
