The 2017 Ministry of Science and Higher Education’s parametric appraisal of Polish scientific institutions’ publishing achievements within the juridical sciences

Summary/Abstract: Background: The process of appraising scientific institutions provides the possibility to review and rank their scientific publications, and makes it possible to assess the current publications in the aspect of the next appraisal. The article analyzes the scientific publications of juridical scientific institutions . This text is a continuation of the work analyzing the achievements of economic units. Research purpose: The purpose of the research is to indicate the most popular journals, publishers, and scientific conferences in the juridical disciplines and defining their significance in the next appraisal in 2022. A comparison was made to analogous aspects in economic sciences. The changes in regulations in the years 2020–2021 were noted. It makes it possible to draw preliminary conclusions regarding the implementation of scientific policy in the field of juridical sciences. Methods: The material was developed on the basis of data from scientific institutions that were assessed in the parametric appraisal in 2017. Using analytical methods, information on the literary output of researchers from the juridical disciplines was extracted. Data on journals, publishers, and conferences were ranked. Various data records by the reporting agents were taken into account, which were unified for this work. The same methods were used in the previously published text on economics. Conclusions: The analysis shows that a large part of the most valuable literary output in the studied disciplines will lose its relevance in the next evaluation. However, it is less concerned with the legal sciences than with the economic sciences. Attention was drawn to the need to adapt to the new evaluation principles in order to raise the importance of scientific achievements and to follow changes in legal regulations and the contents of ministerial lists on an ongoing basis. It was indicated that the representativeness of the analyzed publications in the scientific achievements of the studied disciplines is only partial.
