Summary/Abstract: The aim of this paper is to analyze prose works and photographs by Michel Houellebecq in terms of their depiction of contemporary architecture. The starting point for considerations is the category of transparency, evoking the impression of the dematerialization of space and the flattening of temporality. The question of the choice of transparent building materials in the context of constructing transparency as a visual and existential experience is discussed on the basis of the history of modernist architecture, for the birth of which the tuberculosis epidemic and the related invention of X-radiation were important impulses.
