Internet and mobile devices - trends and opportunities for libraries

Summary/Abstract: The article presents the main ICT factors that determined the diversification and the introduction of new library services: wireless technology and mobile devices. It includes a short technical description of most important technological factors and the presentation of relevant statistic data at a European Union and United States of America level, which come as arguments for the importance of these factors in the development of libraries. There is also a brief description of the Mobile Web and its advantages. The last part is about m.bjarges.ro, the first web site of a Romanian public library designed for use on a mobile devices.
