Summary/Abstract: Simone de Beauvoir, Luce Irigaray, Sarah Kofman, Julia Kristeva, Helen Cixous, Michel Le Doeuff can be seen as united by their common interest in writing and subsequently their critical influence on some aesthetic issues. They can be characterised by some phenomenological moments, but divided by different emphases on Existentialism, Psychoanalysis, and Poststructuralism. However, since the researchers in North American universities refer to these authors as part of ‘French Feminism’ or ‘New French Feminism’, or even ‘écriture féminine’, their presence in shaping the so-called feminist aesthetics becomes evident. The article outlines some aspects of feminist critique of Plato’s, and his notion of beauty, the interpretation of creativity, Kantian sublime as a paragon for abject, as well as it draws attention to some other stories important for the understanding of the aesthetic views of the above mentioned authors.
