Summary/Abstract: "The article discusses the impact of writing abstracts on the development of cognitive and linguistic competences, as well as educational goals related to processing texts in core curriculumterms and CEFR. In the second part, three methods of summarizing texts and the types of summaries are presented. On this basis, a proposal for a modified proficiency scale in processing text was developed. The final part contains a critical analysis of the abstracts prepared by an expert in academic writing, an university student at B2 level and didactic comments."
