Summary/Abstract: The concept of a “region” is closely related to space. We can use it in the scale of a voivodeship, a state, and a continent. Western Europe and Eastern Europe are both the terms deeply rooted – but also separate – in the consciousness shaped in the second half of the 20th century. Similar associations, although specified by a longer historic horizon, can be used in relation to the terms such as the Balkans, the Iberian Peninsula, the British Isles, the Scandinavian Peninsula, or the Baltics. In reference to both geography and space economy these are European regions. They can be examined and analysed, also in the economic context, which is the main aim of this paper that focuses on MiddleEastern Europe.
