Summary/Abstract: The article attemps a comparison between the coloristic semantic of Orthodox iconography (particulary in the icon Resurrection of Lazarus) and the functions of the predominant colors in the Dostoevsky's novel Crime and Punishment. It turns out that the main colors in the “color” paradigm of Dostoevsky are red, yellow, black and white, which are also leading colors in the iconography. Symbolism they carry is identical in the verbal “iconography” of the Russian writer and in color “syntax” of the icon image. As a result of this finding is adequatery achieved meaningful interpretation of the repentance of the “great sinner” Rodion Raskolnikov and his “resurrection from the dead”.
