Summary/Abstract: This paper aims to highlight some psychological aspects of the adoption law in Romania. This information contributes to a better understanding of the spirit of child adoption law. The psychological considerations take into account the four actors involved in adoption: the child, the biological parents, the adoptive parents and the professionals dealing with the adoption process. The psychological portraits of: the adopted child, the biological parents and the adoptive parents are drawn. The tasks and difficulties encountered by the professionals involved in the adoption process are described and suggestions are made to facilitate the work and the huge responsibility that belongs to them. With reference to the adopted child, two critical aspects are discussed, with their psychological implications: the age of the child at the time of adoption and the secret of adoption. In connection with the biological parent, the psychological aspects of the consent to adoption and the possibility of its revocation are discussed. Recognizing the difficulties encountered by adoptive parents in caring for the adopted child and aiming to increase the adoptions of children resident within the child protection system, the several revisions of the adoption law bring some facilities that are mentioned in this paper. The conclusions of the paper can be considered as suggestions both for the people interested in the child adoption process, and for the future revisions and improvements of the adoption law.
