Summary/Abstract: The objective pursued by the careful selection of the topics addressed in this thematic issue on adoption is to extract the thorny issues subsumed to this extremely sensitive matter, with reverberations on multiple levels. Unfortunately, legislative instability has not bypassed this area either, especially the aspects of the adoption procedure, the overall perception created being that of a cumbersome and complicated regulation. Through these theoretical considerations, with accents of pragmatism, this issue aims to set some key milestones in this regulatory loophole (sometimes lacking clarity and coherence), designed to guide both case law solutions and future legislative interventions. ECHR case law on adoption, the general legal regime of information on adoption, the natural parents’ refusal to consent to adoption, the dissolution of adoption, the effects of adoption on the criminal liability of a biological relative for the crime of incest are just some of the topics addressed in the articles reunited in this special issue, each of these "paintings" projecting a gentle and revealing light on the phenomenon of adoption.
