Summary/Abstract: The Qumran Community is still difficult to classify. It eludes attempts to define it, does not fit into the rigid frameworks created by scientific concept stand is not easy to describe. Undoubtedly, however, one feature that may be considered as most fully characterizing that part of the Chosen People living during the late Second Temple Period is piety. This article shows that piety of the Community in its different aspects: cognitive, emotional and practical.It suggests the points of similarity and difference in relation to the piety of the rest of the Israelites and explains how piety shaped the identity of the Qumran people. Finally, it analyses how piety regulated and directed their lives,becoming a constitutive value for the members of the Dead Sea Community.
