Summary/Abstract: Cooperation between Yugoslavia and the German Democratic Republic (GDR) started even before the GDR was proclaimed a sovereign State (October 7,1949). The first economic relations between the two countries were regulated by annual agreements concluded between the Chamber of Economy of the two countries (from 1947 to 1949), but after the adoption of the Cominform Resolution of June 28, 1948, and the pressure brought to bear upon Yugoslavia by the USSR and East-European socialist countries, these relations became gradually weaker to be completely broken off at the end of 1949. Economic cooperation between the two countries was reestablished in 1954 and was carried on through the Chambers of Economy.
