Summary/Abstract: The publication is a multi-disciplinary monograph, which consists of eleven texts devoted to the problem of sustainable development. The authors – Warsaw University scientists – are experts in physics, biology, chemistry, geology, economics, sociology, law, geography, spatial management and security sciences. They direct their attention to the concept of sustainable development and the possibilities of its practical application, and in this context, they interpret on a global scale economic and social mechanisms, such as: the possibility to feed the human race, regulation of water use, environmental pollution and appropriate legal regulations. They are considering the possibility of a just green transition in the European Union and building climate security, as well as real alternatives to sustainable development as a principle of world regulation. It is the third publication in the series aimed at popularizing the achievements of science and published under the auspices of the Green Dialogue Platform of the University of Warsaw.
